The Reg Wright Memorial Cup

This competition is open to all members who, during any point in the current season, have played for one or other of the Vets Teams. An eager 11 members attended today to take up the challenge.

 

The preliminary round gave way to the final 8 which in turn provided us with well battled semi finals between Craig Harrison and John Illingsworth and Andy Wilson and Colin Staff. Ultimately the final was between Craig and Andy, a well fought match with one and then the other taking the lead, but it was Andy who won the game 21-15 and lifted the Cup.

 

The Cup is one of three Reg Wright Memorial Cups (which at one time were each allocated to the Vets Teams 1, 2 and 3 and all played for in any one year). Today’s Cup was last won in 2015 and so it was long overdue an airing. The winning finalist back in 2015 was the now late Ian Woolley.

 

With the success of today’s competition we can hopefully reinstate the Reg Wright Memorial Cup competition as an annual event so watch out for details next year.
